Here is a note from Coach William -

Hi--

I am Chess Coach William Oliver, the City Coach of The Knight School Raleigh, a completely fresh and unique approach to teaching tournament chess to kids. Our approach is revolutionary and has enjoyed amazing success in its twelve years. As we arrive in the greater Raleigh area, I would love to be your chess coach and to bring this innovative new approach to your great kids!

The Knight School’s exclusively designed academic model and curriculum is revolutionary to the way chess is taught. Our focus is on providing an environment where learning and playing chess is fun and accessible to all. Sportsmanship is the key to a positive experience and we stress the importance of winning and losing graciously. But most of all we have fun! With exciting activities like “Toast Games,” “Daily Puzzlers,” “Zany Videos,” along with music, beads and wrist bands, the time will fly and you’ll wish for more.

We welcome all levels of playing and have on-going tournaments using colorful brackets. We use fun, constructive, and positive methods to build your chess skills as well as self-confidence.

The Knight School currently coaches chess in over one hundred elementary schools and all the coaches in The Knight School have passed background checks, are fully insured, and are high-energy instructors who demonstrate the highest levels of professionalism and classroom-management ability.

The Knight School approach is best explained by viewing our website at www.theknightschool.com. Our website provides the most vivid snapshot of the level of innovation, professionalism, high-energy, and amusement park-like fun that characterizes The Knight School chess.

Feel free to email me at woliver@theknightschool.com, or visit www.theknightschool.com if you would like more information!

Parking, Pick-Up & Drop-Off

No need to park. We're happy to meet you outside. Please let us know if you would like to pick up or drop off your child in front of our store. For safety reasons, parents must check in with their teacher before drop off and pick up. If your child is meeting you out front, they will be accompanied by their teacher. If you’d like to stay downtown during camp, there is a parking garage directly behind us (the Marbles garage) and street parking.

Safety and Wellness

We take very seriously the safety and security of each child. Upon registration, we will email you a child information sheet outlining our wellness and behavior guidelines that must be returned before starting camp.

Children will remain on-site with their teacher at all times unless we otherwise receive permission for a field trip. Parents will be given the direct phone and text contact information for emergency purposes.

Refunds and Cancellations

Camps fees are due at the time of registration. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please contact us as soon as possible. Refunds are available up to 14 days before your camp begins. Cancellations made less than two weeks in advance will not receive a refund. Any cancellations made on or after July 1 will incur a $50 cancellation fee.

Summer Camp 10% Discount

Each week that you are registered for summer camp, you are eligible for a 10% off in-store discount. There is no limit to the number of times that you can use the discount. Some artists may elect to exclude their art from discounts. Please ask about discounts on art before purchase. Discount is good for your registered week only.
