Calling all Bookworms & Word Wizards!


Summer Camps at Read With Me include a variety of writing, reading, arts activities, games and special days for dress-up too. Join us for lots of fun with friends in the warm and inviting workshop setting within our downtown Raleigh bookstore.

Camp Details

Bookworms - Rising 1st-3rd graders, ages 6-8 (ages flexible*), limit 8

Word Wizards - Rising 4th-6th graders, ages 9-11 (ages flexible*), limit 10

Camp Schedule

Weekly, Monday-Friday  9:00 am - 12:00 pm (daily snack included)

12:00 pm - 1:00 pm Lunch Bunch (optional, additional fees)

Camp Cost

$150 per week- Base cost includes a daily snack, all materials and a **10% off in-store coupon.

Add $20 per week - Join us for Lunch Bunch! Bring your own lunch and hang out with us.


Add $45 - Join us for lunch-included Lunch Bunch! A healthy box lunch will be provided daily by Raleigh Times.



  • Word Wizards must have a copy of the book needed for camp, and ideally have read the book. You may bring your own copy from home. If you purchase a copy from us, you will receive a 20% discount.

  • Bookworms will receive a thematic picture book based on the camp they attend.

  • Please bring a water bottle.

  • Please let us know about dietary restrictions or other special needs.

  • *If you feel that your child would benefit from being in a camp with a higher or lower age range than their current age, please email us to talk more.  We're very flexible and our small size and experience allows us to be make accommodations. However, children must have completed Kindergarten or equivalent homeschool year. 

  • **A note about 10% off in-store coupon- some artists may elect to exclude their art from discounts. Please ask about discounts on art before purchase. Discount is good for your registered week only.

  • Please let us know if you would like to do drop-off or pick-up at our sidewalk.

Read With Me Summer Camps are taught by Deanna Hicks Privette, B.A. Ms. Deanna earned her K-5 Elementary Education teaching certification from Meredith College in Raleigh, NC. Deanna is a former teacher with 30+ years experience in formal and informal education, ranging from preschool to middle school. Deanna specializes in working with children to develop and enrich literacy skills in engaging and creative ways.

Refunds and Cancellations

Camps fees are due at the time of registration. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please contact us as soon as possible. Refunds are available up to 14 days before your camp begins. Cancellations made less than two weeks in advance will not receive a refund. Cancellations will incur a $50 cancellation fee.

    The Dinosaurs of Waterhouse Hawkins

    WEEK 1: June 11 - 15  TRACK 1

    The Dinosaurs of Waterhouse Hawkins – Have you ever wondered who first brought dinosaurs to life? Meet Waterhouse Hawkins, the first naturalist and artist to take dinosaurs from imagination to realistic models. Create prehistoric  projects including true form fossils, trace fossils and a working volcano.


    WEEK 3: June 25 - 29  TRACK 1

     "Second star to the right and straight on till morning!"  Fly away for a week of pirates, mermaids, and fairies as we read, write and create magical projects with a dash of pixie dust.  

    Once Upon A Time

    WEEK 5: July 16 - 20  TRACK 4

    Once Upon A Time – Enter the world of fairytales through creative projects such as crowns, shadow puppets, villain "wanted" posters, planting a beanstalk to take home and other fantastical projects


    Aladdin’s Adventures

    WEEK 7: August 13 - 17  TRACK 3

    Take a ride on a magic carpet as we seek adventure with Aladdin, Sinbad, and Ali Baba. We’ll encounter genies, mysterious cities, and magic lamps along the way.

    A Wrinkle In Time

    WEEK 2: June 18 - 22  TRACK 1

    A Wrinkle In Time - “It was a dark and stormy night.”  Hold on as we journey with Meg on her quest to save her father- and the universe- in a world of magic, mystery and mystical beings. (based on the novel A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle)

    Hogwarts, Year 1

    WEEK 4: July 9 -13  TRACK 4

    Hogwarts, Year 1 – We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry! We will discuss the first book of the series and create magical projects; first years will receive a Hogwarts acceptance package by post. (based on the novel Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling)

    Hogwarts, Year 2

    WEEK 6: July 23 - 27  TRACK 4

    Hogwarts, Year 2 -  Travel by floo powder, flying car, or Hogwarts Express, but don’t miss your second year!  (based on the novel Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling)

    Camp Half-Blood

    WEEK 8: Aug 20-24  

    Spend a week with other demigods at Camp Half-Blood as we choose our cabins, participate in training games and craft artifacts from The Olympians series.  (Includes 20% off of Illustrated Percy Jackson #1, released on 8/14) (based on the novel Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan)

    Lunches provided by Raleigh Times & Morning Times for $5 per day or $25 per week. Daily selections vary.
