Join us each Tuesday from 3:00 - 6:00 pm for tutoring in our inviting creative space at Read With Me for individualized or group academic assistance for rising 1st graders to rising 6th graders.
We can help your child with homework, reading, reports, creating special projects for school or extracurricular activities and much more. We aim to be a community resource to foster curiosity, creativity, and most of all a life-long love of reading.
Pre-register 1 day in advance to secure your spot. Starts 4/17/2018
Sessions are held for 30 minutes ($20), 45 minutes ($30), or 60 minutes ($40).
Drop-off and pick-up at our sidewalk is available.

Deanna Hicks Privette, BA, earned her K-5 Elementary Education teaching certification from Meredith College in Raleigh, NC. Deanna is a former teacher with 30+ years experience in formal and informal education, ranging from preschool to middle school. Deanna specializes in working with children to develop and enrich literacy skills in engaging and creative ways.
Deanna is also available to consult with classroom teachers and homeschooling instructors to develop a tutoring plan for students.
Introduction to Cartooning
Introduction to Cartooning aims to teach children and young adults the principles of cartooning, including learning the basic building blocks of drawing, character design, and storytelling. In essence, how to tell a story with images.
Dates- Wednesdays March 7, 14, 21, 28, Apr 11, 18, 25, May 2 (no class April 4)
Times- 8 sessions, one hour sessions, 5:00-6:00pm
Ages- children age 10-14 (approximately)
Objectives: Students will gain an introductory knowledge of drawing and the basic principles of draftsmanship. Students will explore how to deconstruct complex shapes, how to draw with their imaginations, and how specific images create specific ideas in the minds of readers.
About the Teacher: Gabriel Dunston is a local working cartoonist born and raised in the Raleigh area. He has been writing and illustrating comics, kids’ books, and board games for himself and for clients for the past 8 years. He has several years experience and greatly enjoys teaching young people and spreading the love of comics and art.
